Other British run businesses include travel centres and car hire agencies. Many of these also offer excellent rates of exchange. Torviscas lies at the exclusive north end of Las Americas. It is much quieter than the centre of Playa de las Americas, but close enough to join in the action if you so desire. The nearest beach is Playa Fanabe, which is just 5 minutes walk. Fanabe is a very upmarket, exclusive area, which is home to many 4 and 5 star hotels. Playa Torviscas lies adjacent to Playa Fanabe. Both beaches are protected by a long breakwater, which makes them very calm and safe for swimming. A 5 mile long promenade connects these beaches with the others along the Adeje coast. Off the promenade are an assortment of international restaurants with a choice ranging from MacDonalds to Little Italy. Immediately off the road as you walk towards the promenade is a shopping precinct, which is home to amusement arcades as well as boutiques and restaurants. The roof of this shopping arcade serves as the base for the Torviscas market on Thursdays. This same market tours the surrounding area and offers everything from toys, jewellery to local crafts and electronics. There is also a bar directly on the beach serving food and drinks, as well as cocktails.

Las
Americas is one of the most varied and attractive resorts in the
world. It has such a large choice of pastimes and miles of beaches
that it appeals to holiday makers from all over Europe. There are
exclusive new shopping centres, as in the San Eugenio District and
around Puerto Colon. Water sports and beach club entertainment for
children and adults are on offer at the sea. Major theme parks
include the Sky Park, which is less than 2 minutes walk from Mare Verde,
and the large and impressive Aqua Park. The nightlife is the
liveliest on the island, with a casino and most clubs staying open until
the small hours. One of the most popular night club destinations
is Veronicas. The whole complex is dedicated to nightlife.
It opens at 10pm every night. All music tastes are catered for, as
well as an excellent variety of young rock bands and live music from 1am
till late. At various other venues in the South of the island, you
will find everything from Spanish Dance Shows, Magic Shows and Medieval
nights to dedicated jazz programs. A must is Harleys Bar
where you can enjoy a wide variety of cocktails or a meal while enjoying
the excellent live music.
South
of Playa Torviscas lies the impressive new marina of Puerto Colon.
Here you can book a boat trip to Los Gigantes, Masca or to watch whales
or schools of dolphins. Adjacent is a calm and sheltered family
beach, with a water slide play area actually moored out at sea.
